Distracted Driving Statistics

When we say that texting while driving is dangerous, some people don’t get it. These statistics should help:

• While driving, seven out of 10 people engage with their smartphone, according to a study by AT&T and Braun Research.
• According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, eight people were killed every day in crashes that involve distracted drivers in 2013.
• To add to that, 1,161 people were injured every day in crashes that involve distracted drivers in 2013.
• The NHTSA also reported that 10% of drivers between the ages of 15 and 19 that were involved in fatal crashes were distracted at the time of the crash. This is the largest percentage of drivers to be distracted out of any age group.

Distracted Driving Simulator

The Arrive Alive Tour allows your student to experience texting while driving first hand. However, we remove the danger from the situation. The distracted driving simulator takes place in a Jeep, as the students wear a virtual reality headset to show them actually driving the car. Students standing around the simulator can experience it too. A passenger eye view is set up outside the simulator.

After the simulation, students are given a mock ticket to show the physical and legal dangers of distracted driving. Our facilitators are there to ask students questions and give them statistics about texting while driving. Our high-impact video presentation will be playing all day long also. This will show your students the dangers of texting and driving.

Picture Pledge Station

Another part of our distracted driving simulator is the Picture Pledge station. This allows students to pledge to never use their cell phone while driving again. The students receive an animated GIF sent to the email address they provide. This allows them to share the pledge very easily on social media. Now their friends know what they pledged and will call them out on it if they see them texting and driving again.
