Arrive Alive Tour: The Do’s and Don’ts of Distracted Driving

When it comes to distracted driving, most people consider that to be texting while driving only. However, Arrive Alive Tour knows that is not the case. Distracted driving consists of many other things besides sending a text message to a friend while driving. We take a look at those things, plus the do’s and don’ts of distracted driving below.

Do's and Don'ts of Distracted Driving

While texting and driving is definitely an example of this, it is not the only one. Other examples of this include eating while driving, talking on your cell phone (even with a hands-free device), adjusting the stereo, talking to passengers, doing your makeup and so many more. We all need to have our hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.

The Do’s of Distracted Driving

  • Do wear your seat belt.
  • Do only use approved car seats for your children.
  • Do pull over and let your kids stretch their legs if they are complaining about being in the car seat.
  • Do drive cautiously in bad weather.
  • Do only use your phone for emergency situations.

The Don’ts of Distracted Driving

  • Don’t try to juggle other activities while driving. This can reduce your reaction time and keep your attention distracted. This can include eating, putting on makeup and changing your clothes. These all lead to dangerous situations.
  • Don’t speed. Speeding is one of the biggest factors that cause traffic accidents, based on NHTSA statistics.
  • Don’t input information into your GPS while you are driving.

What are your do’s and don’ts when it comes to distracted driving?
